Learning this half term
As writers, we will share the story ‘Beowulf’ by Michael Morpurgo. Using our key text, we will create character and setting descriptions, letters of advice, actions scene with dialogue and obituary.
We will the use The Three Little Pigs to look at crime and punishment, focusing on character description, narrative from a different point of view and a police report. We will look into the justice system of the Anglo Saxons and comparing it to modern day through arguments.
We will use Crime and Punishment through the years to write a non- chronological report.
Place Value, the four operations, fractions and percentages
Is there any justice in the world?
We will investigate and interpret settlements in Britain after the Roman withdrawal in 410CE leading to the Anglo Saxon and Viking struggle for the Kingdom of England up to the time of Edward the Confessor. We will investigate place names, village life, law and order, raids and invasions.
We will investigate the curiosity of Sutton Hoo and the treasure found there, thinking carefully about why it was placed there and the religious ceremony.
we will be able to identify where in the world Anglo Saxons and Vikings came from, studying Atlases to find the key countries and routes.
In Geography we will investigate the countries and cities of the United Kingdom and how they have changed over time.
We will be using six-fig grid references, symbols and key (including use of OS maps) to build our knowledge of the UK. We will use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe their features.
