Once you have watched the video, practice on the problem solving activities before creating your own block diagram using your tally chart information :).
Key Info: Your scale can go up in 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s or whichever number you like! It will depend on how big your numbers are!

Just want to check in with you all. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I was lucky enough to spot a few of you this week and it was so lovely to see you. I have also really enjoyed seeing the work that people have been emailing to me. You are trying so hard.

Stanley doesn't believe how much strawberry jam I have been eating so I have changed to blueberry jam now. See if you can spot what has happened in the attached photo.

Matthew your fish looked incredible and Nevaeh, Cadence and Matilda how you managed to not hug was incredible although secretly I have missed them a lot. Special shout out as well to Jayden who has sent me in his learning from the blog every day!! He has also managed to lose that wobbly tooth!

I have a new friend at home joining Bobby and the Guinea Pigs. His name is Toblerone (Toby for short) I will put a picture on for you. I have also had a macaw with me whilst she found a new home called Polly she has to my neighbours' delight learnt how to sing. Watch the video and see if you can guess the song. (Carers Polly has yellow feathers in her hair and if you wish to also show your age you will probably guess the reference)

The Ickabog

Hi Everyone!

As you may or may not know JK Rowling (author of Harry Potter) has written a new children's book aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 9 years old. This is a completely new story called 'The Ickabog'.

Each day she uploads a new chapter to the story, which she has been doing for a few weeks so there are plenty of chapters to read :).

COMPETITION TIME!!!! *YEAR 2 ONLY - Age 7-12

As well as this fantastic story being released online, JK Rowling has created a competition for children aged between 7 and 12! The competition is to illustrate parts of the book so that when it is released it will have children's pictures in it. If your child creates a picture for one of the chapters (information on the website) and you enter it, it could be in the actual book!!!!

You also have the opportunity to draw a picture for each chapter so you will have lots of chances to win :).

If you are in Year 1 you are sadly not able to enter the competition.

Double-Digit Subtraction for Kids

This video is an excellent tutorial on how to subtract using the column method. The first part of the video shows simple column subtraction where no regrouping/borrowing is needed to complete the sum. The second part focuses on the more difficult skill of regrouping/borrowing.

Get ready for some fun in today's challenge! We all know how much Mr Grinling loved his lunch and yet those sneaky seagulls kept on stealing it! He was devastated not to be able to eat his sandwiches every day (they must have been very delicious). That made me wonder what your favourite sandwich would be...

Your challenge for today is to create some instructions on how to make your own perfect sandwich!

You could write your instructions (example given below) or you could take pictures. Remember to use time connectives (first, next, then) and bossy verbs (cut, slice, spread) to make your instructions more detailed and clear.

Please send any work or pictures to the email address (hopefully uploaded soon!) so I can take a look at your delicious sandwiches and how you made them,

Home Learning

Hello Children and Parents!

As you will have heard we will be setting daily online learning for the children to complete on our class blog!

Each day there will be set a Maths and English challenge plus other fun and exciting challenges on random days (definitely keep an eye out for these!) We are also in the process of creating a class email for you to send any completed work to which I will post on here as soon as I know it.

In regards to the challenges, you ARE NOT expected to complete them all. The challenges are there for you do what you like, when you like and how much you like. I can't wait to see what you send in!

Hi everybody, I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I miss you all so much.

I hope you are enjoying completing your home learning. Since school has been closed, I have been busy learning sign language. Bobby is keeping me run off my feet as always and I have a new addition to my family, Barney the parrotlet. I have put a photo of him at the bottom.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

In the meantime, stay safe indoors, be kind and keep being the beautiful people I know you are.

To the parents we have ways of getting in touch should you need us. Life is different at the moment and no one should feel like they are struggling.
