WELCOME TO MAPLE CLASS

Hello everybody and welcome to our class page. I hope you have had a wonderful summer holidays and have lots to tell me in our first week back!

I am really excited at getting to know you all more and for you to get to know me! We have lots of exciting things planned for the next couple of weeks for you to get to know me as well as coming up with ideas of how we can make Maple class a happy, exciting, safe and fun place to learn!

Things to help you coming into Maple Class.

PE  will be on a Thursday and Friday. Please make sure your child has a PE Kit in school in a small bag. This needs to simply be a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and a pair of pumps or trainers for going outside. Children are welcome to leave their P.E kits in school and we will send them home in the holidays for a wash.

Homework will be set on Google Classrooms. Your child will have a homework grid that has a variety of English, Maths and Topic activities on it for them to complete. They choose to do at least one activity each week (although they can do more!) Your child's username and password will be stuck in their Reading Record Book. Their homework needs to submitted by Thursday, as I will look at it before Friday and send a certificate home to those children who have completed homework.

Reading - We expect your child to read at least three times a week at home to an adult. This needs to be recorded in your child's reading record and signed by an adult. This record needs to be brought into school every day. We will check this on a Friday for the previous week. Again, they will get a certificate if they do this.

If your child needs to change their reading book, they can change it on any day when they go to their Read Write Inc group.

Your child will also have access and passwords to Times Table Rockstars, Purple Mash and Reading Eggs. Their usernames and passwords will be put in their Reading Record Books as soon as we have them all.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to speak to us. You can catch us most mornings before school or wait to speak to us after the children have been released to Parents/carers at home time.

Or you can contact us via the email address:

We really look forward to working together this year.

We also complete daily Read, Write, Inc sessions.

Maths:

Number: Place Value

Numbers to 100

Number: Addition and Subtraction

Numbers within 100 (including money)

Topic - Who was to blame for The Great Fire of London?

As historians, we will learn about events beyond living memory that are significant nationally or globally in learning about the events that took place in 1666 during the Great Fire of London, as well as describing the causes and consequences of this event.

As scientists, we will be asking simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways, observing closely, using simple equipment, performing simple tests, identifying and classifying, using our observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions as well as gathering and recording data to help in answering questions.

We will distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made, identify and name a variety of everyday materials, including wood, plastic, glass, metal, water, and rock, describe the simple physical properties of a variety of everyday materials and compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of their simple physical properties.
